Amazon reveals Prime Air drone capable of 30 minute deliveries


As early as 2015, your Amazon purchases could be dropped at your door within 30 minutes courtesy of unmanned aerial drones. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos revealed plans for the delivery service Prime Air (an extension of Amazon Prime which guarantees two-day shipping) in a 60 Minutes interview on Sunday night.

China to send ‘jade rabbit’ lunar rover to the moon


China will launch its first ever moon rover early next month, state media said Tuesday, with the vehicle named “Jade Rabbit” in a nod to Chinese folklore.

The name derives from an ancient Chinese myth about a white rabbit which lives on the moon as the pet of Change, a lunar goddess who swallowed an immortality pill.

The rocket carrying the probe will be launched in early December, China’s official Xinhua news agency said, citing the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.

Two-Seat Electric Octodecacopter Completes Early Flight Tests


 A German company has developed and flown a scaled-up version of the electric quadcopters normally seen darting around parks and fields, but this version will carry two people and could fly for up to an hour. E-volo’s new model has made “multiple flights lasting several minutes” according to the company, including flights to 22 meters (limited by flying indoors). The VC200 uses carbon fiber and 18 separate motors and propellers powered by multiple batteries for redundancy.
